DES-1005P features green technology such as IEEE 802.3az Energy-Ethernet (EEE), link state detection, and cable length detection. EEE adjusts transformer power consumption based on network usage, thus reducing cost of ownership during periods of inactivity. Link-state detection turns off ports when no links are detected, saving energy when connected devices are closed or disconnected. Cable Length Detection adjusts the power output of the port based on the cable length, reducing the power requirement for the switch.
